Zlatan in Barcelona

The recent acquisition of former Inter star, Zlatan Ibrahimovic by the Spanish side Barcelona (popularly known as Barca) attracted a lot of interest. Indeed, for a number of days leading to the acquisition, and a number of days following it, this was the top news in soccer tabloids.
The much interest around Zlatan’s move to Barcelona was as a result of a number of things. For one, it was a deal that not only depended on Zlatan’s willingness to move to the Spanish side from Italy (where he was playing for Inter), but also on the willingness of the then Barcelona’s striker Samuel Eto’o to move to Inter to complete the deal.
A lot has happened since. The deal was eventually closed, and Zlatan ended up in Barcelona. And to the surprise of many he synced almost ‘instantly’ with his new side and was instrumental in winning the debut match in which he was fielded.
The day is still young for Zlatan in Barcelona. It does seem promising though, if the trend in the recent matches is anything to go by. There is definitely no denying tat Zlatan has, in his own way, added value to Barcelona – an already considerably well-to-do side. And on this score, his acquisition stands out as a wise investment.
